The Guardian on San Lorenzo, Rome's “rebel” neighbourhood

This summer The Guardian wrote about San Lorenzo again. On 29 July 2026, in its “Zoning in” series, Jessica Lionnel described our neighbourhood as Rome's “rebel” quarter: working-class, full of students and murals, about twenty minutes' walk from Termini and a world away from the tourist crowds.
The article also mentions us: a family-run osteria since 1961, opened where the fagottari used to come with food from home, with tripe, Jewish-style artichokes, cacio e pepe, oxtail and paper-covered tables. We recognise ourselves in every line.
