1961: Marcello, Alessandrina and the “fagottari”

In 1961 Marcello Santececca and his wife Alessandrina took over the small osteria at Via dei Campani 12. Like most osterie of the time it offered tables and loose wine, while customers, the “fagottari”, brought their own food. Alessandrina began cooking for those who could pay, and her pajata, coda alla vaccinara, coratella, tripe and amatriciana became the house signatures. The name Da Marcello stayed, even after the recent change of management.
